Activities
This subcommittee is responsible for holding activities (dances, parties, picnics, events, etc.) that are attractive to the newcomer. The primary purpose of this committee is to reach the still suffering addict and help promote NA unity. The secondary purpose of this subcommittee is to raise funds for the Williamsport area needs.
Additional Needs
This subcommittee is responsible for carrying the message to those addicts who seek recovery and have additional needs. Additional needs arise from physical challenges such as blindness, hearing impairment, or mobility limitations by the use of a wheelchair, however, additional needs is not limited to these three categories.
“Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” Convention
This subcommittee is responsible for planning and hosting our area’s biennial convention. Our last convention, Ain’t No Mountain High Enough XIV: Road Map to Recovery, was held on October 18-20, 2019. There are several open positions that need to be filled so that we may organize our next convention in 2021.
Hospitals & Institutions
This subcommittee is a resource to members and groups in their efforts to distribute supplies, information and literature necessary to carry the NA message of recovery. This subcommittee attempts to make N.A. available to any addict seeking recovery within treatment and correctional facilities.
Literature
This subcommittee deals with our primary purpose as it is achieved through literature and distribution. They meet every month before Area Service to organize and supply our area with any literature we may need–including keytags, medallions, books, and IPs. They act as a liaison between the World Literature Sales and our Area Service Body.
Outreach
The purpose of the Outreach Subcommittee is to reach out to the isolated or struggling groups within our area and to act as a communication link between that group and the Area Service Committee (ASC). The goal of these efforts is intended to provide support and assist groups to learn how to help themselves.
Public Relations
Our relations with the public enable us to share our message broadly so that those who might benefit from our program of recovery can find us. We perform public relations service to increase the awareness and credibility of the NA program. We share our message openly with the public at large, with prospective members, and with professionals. Maintaining an open, attractive attitude in these efforts helps us to create and improve relationships with those outside the fellowship. Establishing and maintaining a commitment to these relationships can help us to further our primary purpose.
Wellsboro Co-Op
The Wellsboro Co-Op works in cooperation with the Williamsport Area Service Body. They serve the areas of Wellsboro, Tioga, and Mansfield. The Co-Op has several subcommittees including Public Relations, Activities, and Hospitals & Institutions.
